Every child has the right to grow up in a safe and supportive environment free from abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination, and harm.
SCDO is committed to ensuring that all children participating in our programs are treated with dignity, respect, and care.
Safeguarding Principles
All staff, volunteers, healthcare professionals, consultants, and partners working with SCDO are expected to:
- Act in the best interests of the child
- Treat children with respect and dignity
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
- Protect confidential information
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately
Photography and Media
Photographs, videos, case studies, and stories involving children will only be used with appropriate parental or guardian consent and in a manner that respects the child’s dignity and privacy.
Reporting Concerns
Any concerns relating to child abuse, neglect, exploitation, or misconduct must be reported immediately to SCDO leadership for appropriate action.
SCDO takes all safeguarding concerns seriously and will respond promptly and appropriately.
Confidentiality
Information relating to children and their families will be handled confidentially and only shared when necessary for healthcare, safeguarding, legal obligations, or authorized program activities.
Training and Awareness
SCDO will promote safeguarding awareness among staff, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community partners to help ensure the protection of all children involved in our work.
